The signing of contracts for the design, construction and supervision of the highway section from Mateševo to Andrijevica is anticipated in the first half of next year, with construction set to last five years if everything goes according to plan.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić addressed this during a parliamentary session, responding to a question from Vladislav Bojović of the ZBCG – Democratic People’s Party. He emphasized that the government is actively working on improving the transportation network, with the continuation of the Bar-Boljare highway construction as the next step.

Five international companies and three consortiums submitted bids for the main project design and construction of the highway section. The evaluation committee has completed its review and sent the report to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for approval. Once the EBRD gives the green light, the final phase of selecting the contractor will proceed.

In parallel, a public call for selecting the supervisory body is underway, with 14 companies having submitted applications; evaluation is currently in progress. Contracts for construction and supervision are expected to be signed in the first half of next year.

Meanwhile, activities related to land expropriation, the adoption of a feasibility study, and the approval of an environmental impact assessment are also being conducted.

The Prime Minister highlighted that cooperation with the European Commission and the EBRD serves as the best guarantee for the quality of the work, noting that funds amounting to 200 million euros in favorable loans and at least 100 million euros in grants have been secured.

In addition to the Mateševo-Andrijevica section, 17 more key segments of the road network have been identified, with contracts for the technical documentation of an additional five sections expected to be concluded by the end of the year.

The government is also investing significant resources into the reconstruction and construction of new state roads across the country. Spajić concluded that this year has seen the completion of significant road works on important routes, such as Lubnice-Jezerine and Rožaje-Špiljane.
