Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, stated that early indicators for this year’s tourist season are encouraging. She expressed optimism that, if planned activities are carried out as expected, the country is likely to see a successful season.
During her visit to the Czech Republic, where she participated in the World Tourism Forum, Kordić met with Czech Minister for Regional Development, Petr Kulhánek. She emphasized Montenegro’s commitment to strengthening its international standing within the framework of its foreign policy priorities and European integration process.
Kordić highlighted the importance of cooperation with international organizations, particularly UN Tourism, as a key global partner in the tourism sector.
Both officials acknowledged the strong bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Czech Republic and agreed there is room for further cooperation, particularly in tourism.
Kulhánek noted Montenegro’s exceptional tourism potential—not only along its scenic coastline but also in the development of mountain and rural tourism.
Kordić emphasized the importance of investing in artificial snowmaking systems, which would extend the ski season by increasing the number of available ski days. She also underscored the need for improved transportation infrastructure and expanded airport capacities as critical to the sector’s further development.
The talks also addressed a regional initiative focused on joint promotion of Western Balkan countries in distant markets such as the United States, Japan, and China. Kordić said the initiative is based on collaboration rather than competition—a model Kulhánek welcomed, recognizing its potential for attracting travelers from these faraway regions.
Both sides expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation between their respective tourism institutions in order to enhance tourism policy and share best practices.
This year’s World Tourism Forum brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, national tourism organizations, and the academic community. The forum focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and the use of artificial intelligence in tourism, with the aim of addressing current challenges and shaping a sustainable future for the industry.
