EPCG, UGT Renewables and Hyundai strengthen partnership for clean energy and energy stability in Montenegro

Representatives from UGT Renewables and Hyundai met with representatives from Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), continuing the dialogue initiated in 2023 with the aim of optimizing the use of available resources and technologies that will contribute to decarbonization and enhance the stability of the energy sector.

EPCG stated that the meeting focused on investment opportunities in solar and wind energy projects, improving the electricity grid, and developing new energy storage models, all of which would further strengthen Montenegro’s energy system.

EPCG’s Chairman of the Board, Milutin Đukanović, and Executive Director Ivan Bulatović briefed the attendees on EPCG’s plans for building battery storage systems and highlighted that the first phase of procurement is underway, involving battery systems with a capacity of 2x30MWh.

EPCG has been developing partnerships with these companies since 2022 when a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed.

“The meeting was a continuation of the dialogue that started in 2023, aimed at optimizing the use of available resources and technologies to contribute to decarbonization and increased energy stability for EPCG and Montenegro’s energy sector as a whole,” the statement said. “The importance of international partnerships in this process is undeniable, and EPCG, UGTR Renewables, and Hyundai recognize Montenegro as an attractive destination for investments in clean energy,” said Đukanović.

Representatives of the companies reiterated their willingness to accelerate the realization of planned initiatives, using innovative solutions and the best global practices.
