Government approves plans for Museum and Cultural Park complex in Podgorica

The proposal for urban and technical conditions for the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Natural History Museum and the Park of Culture and Art in Podgorica was adopted at the Government session on April 25.

The government approved the proposal for the urban and technical conditions for preparing the technical documentation for the construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Natural History Museum, and the Park of Culture and Art, located in the KO Podgorica II cadastral area, as part of the Spatial Urban Plan of the City of Podgorica. This decision was made in accordance with Article 218a of the Law on Spatial Planning and Construction of Buildings, following the request from the Ministry of Culture and Media, with the opinions of the relevant authorities.

As stated, the location designated for the construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Natural History Museum, and the Park of Culture and Art covers a cadastral parcel in KO Podgorica, with an area of 50,436 m².

As previously reported by eKapija, the Italian firm A-Fact won the first prize in the international competition for the conceptual architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Natural History Museum, and the Park of Culture and Art, along with supporting facilities. This complex will be built on the site of the former Morača barracks in Podgorica.
