The Municipality of Kolašin is still awaiting feedback from Arab investor Mohamed Alabbar regarding potential investments in two key development projects in the Bjelasica and Sinjajevina areas.

Municipality President Petko Bakić highlighted tourism and agriculture as the region’s main development opportunities and sees no reason for local opposition to the investments.

He emphasized that any major investment will involve broad social dialogue and that citizens’ opinions must be heard and respected. If serious investments proceed, a local referendum may be organized to clearly gauge public support, as the will of the people should be the basis of any decision.

Bakić also addressed ongoing concerns over a water diversion project from the Ljevaja River, which faces opposition from some locals. He stressed that water supply is essential for the town’s development, especially given new hotel and tourism infrastructure plans. The project is legal and fully permitted, and the municipality expects the state to ensure its implementation.

Another important project for Kolašin is a wastewater treatment plant valued at 12 million EUR. Although the initial tender failed due to lack of bidders, the municipality plans to relaunch the call for contractors soon.
