At the Montenegro–Slovakia Business Forum, officials and business leaders emphasized that both countries can strengthen trade and develop long-term strategic projects through dialogue, experience exchange and stronger business links.
Pavle D. Radovanović, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation, noting strong political, cultural, and economic ties between the two nations. He pointed to untapped potential in areas such as energy, agriculture, food production, tourism, IT, and innovation.
Robert Šimončič, Director of Slovakia’s SARIO agency, said the forum represents a platform for concrete partnerships and projects. He noted growing Slovak interest in Montenegro, with 31 Slovak companies attending the event. Šimončič emphasized the need to diversify trade beyond traditional sectors like automotive and electrotechnics, suggesting cooperation in green energy, water management, HORECA, and IT.
Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović stressed the potential for deeper economic ties and outlined three key areas for cooperation: stronger political-economic alliances, green energy collaboration, and digital transformation. He reaffirmed Montenegro’s commitment to fair treatment for all credible investors.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini echoed this vision, stating that the close friendship between the countries should lead to tangible economic outcomes. He highlighted tourism, digitalization, and sustainability as promising areas for cooperation and emphasized Slovakia’s readiness to share its expertise in green and digital technologies.
The forum also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Slovak and Montenegrin companies and featured bilateral meetings focused on potential joint projects.
Business representatives from both sides expressed optimism about future cooperation, despite challenges like the lack of direct air connections. The event marked a step forward in strengthening economic relations and building lasting partnerships.
