Prime Minister Milojko Spajić stated that investors from the UAE might be interested in several locations in Montenegro, including Ulcinj, Buljarica, Jaz, and parts of Herceg Novi. He emphasized that under his leadership, land in Montenegro would not be sold to investors, and the preferred option would be co-ownership with investors for the benefit of the country.

Spajić shared that consultations with political parties, including the DPS, were constructive, and all parties took the intergovernmental agreement with the UAE seriously. The agreement, which focuses on economic cooperation rather than specific projects, will be ratified in parliament soon, after which concrete discussions with UAE companies will follow.

He also reassured the public that any investment would be thoroughly vetted, including checks for criminal backgrounds and tax delinquencies. Spajić emphasized that Montenegro’s new anti-money laundering law, passed in 2023, would be fully applied to any investments from the UAE.
