According to preliminary data from Monstat, Montenegro’s total foreign trade in goods for the first four months of the year amounted to 1.51 billion euros, a 2.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Exports totaled 200.8 million euros, a 2% decrease, while imports rose by 3.6% to 1.31 billion euros. The export-to-import coverage ratio was 15.4%, down from 16.3% in the same period last year.
Montenegro’s top export products were mineral fuels and lubricants (64.7 million euros), primarily electricity (56.9 million euros). The main import items were machinery and transport equipment (340.8 million euros), including road vehicles (142 million euros).
The leading export partners were Serbia (50.8 million euros), Switzerland (23.9 million euros), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (19.5 million euros). For imports, the top partners were Serbia (213.1 million euros), China (170.5 million euros), and Germany (134.6 million euros).
The highest trade volume was recorded with CEFTA members and the European Union.
