Early this morning, the Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Cooperation in Tourism and Real Estate Development.

The law was supported by 46 members of parliament, with ten voting against and four abstaining, according to Vijesti.

Those who voted against included members of minority parties—except for the Bosniak Party—along with the Civic Movement URA and Boris Mugoša, an MP from the Social Democrats (SD).

The parliamentary group of the Democratic People’s Party abstained from voting, while the rest of the opposition, including the Democratic Party of Socialists, did not attend the session.

Parliament did not accept an amendment proposed by independent MP Jevrosima Pejović, which aimed to prevent projects implemented under this agreement from being classified as matters of public interest.

Earlier, the Parliament also ratified a separate agreement on economic cooperation between Montenegro and the UAE, which had been signed by the government.

The session discussing the two agreements with the UAE, signed in late March, lasted more than 12 hours.
