Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Siniša Mali, stated that Serbia is interested in obtaining the concession for the two international passenger airports in Podgorica and Tivat, a process that has been ongoing for several years.

Mali emphasized that despite repeated expressions of interest by himself and President Aleksandar Vučić to Montenegrin officials, Serbia has not yet been included in the concession process. He noted that Serbia is willing to invest even double the amount currently proposed in the concession contract.

He expressed confidence that Serbia could contribute to accelerating the development of Montenegro’s airports, citing Serbia’s experience with its own airport, “Nikola Tesla,” which has been modernized under a concession and is expected to handle up to 15 million passengers annually by the end of the concession period.

Mali stressed that similar modernization is necessary for the airports in Tivat and Podgorica and that Serbia has the expertise, financial strength, and capability to undertake this task, which he believes would be mutually beneficial.

He also highlighted that the growth of Serbia’s airport went hand-in-hand with the development of the national airline, Air Serbia, now the most successful carrier in the region and beyond.
