After the Municipal Assembly of Ulcinj (SO Ulcinj) unanimously adopted resolutions expressing opposition to the controversial agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), former Mayor of Ulcinj and President of the Ulcinj branch of the GP URA party, Omer Bajraktari, stated that this decision rejected the Montenegrin Government’s intentions to sell the entire Velika Plaža in a harmful manner.

According to Bajraktari, this agreement violates all laws of Montenegro and the current spatial plans that govern the municipality of Ulcinj and the entire Velika Plaža area. “We are not against investments, but we are against this way of valorization and the intention to give the entire Velika Plaža to a single investor in a non-transparent and illegal manner, turning the whole area into a private and inaccessible property,” Bajraktari emphasized, as stated by GP URA.
