HPP Višegrad output rises in April as Bosnia’s hydropower operator tracks a strong 2026 run
Hydropower performance in Bosnia and Herzegovina is strengthening again at mid-year, with HPP Višegrad reporting higher generation in April. The facility, operated by Hidroelektrane na Drini—an ERS subsidiary—produced 110.36 GWh of electricity in April 2026.
The April figure marks a 16.5% increase versus March, when output totaled 94.72 GWh. Compared with the same month last year, production was slightly lower: April 2025 generation stood at 113.76 GWh.
2026 generation pace and recent operating history
Beyond the monthly comparison, the plant’s year-to-date performance remains a key focus for investors tracking near-term supply trends. In 2025, HPP Višegrad generated a total of 781.8 GWh, up from 733 GWh in 2024. For 2026 so far, cumulative generation has reached 510.76 GWh.
Plant profile and long-run output benchmark
Commissioned in 1989, HPP Višegrad has an installed capacity of 315 MW (3 × 105 MW). The plant’s average annual generation is approximately 1,010 GWh, with its record annual output recorded in 2010 at 1,283.05 GWh.
With April’s rebound lifting monthly production and bringing the year-to-date total to more than half of its reported prior-year level, HPP Višegrad’s latest update underscores how seasonal swings can quickly change hydropower supply momentum during the course of a year.
