EPBiH tenders rooftop solar on its own sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina

State-owned electricity utility EPBiH has started a new round of renewable energy investment by inviting bids for rooftop solar installations on its own facilities across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The move matters for investors and grid stakeholders because it signals a concrete step toward expanding in-house clean generation while also targeting energy efficiency improvements within the utility’s operating footprint.

Tender scope, budget and timeline

The first phase of the project is valued at approximately €750,000, excluding VAT. The tender covers the deployment of photovoltaic systems on a range of company-owned buildings located throughout the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bidders have until 15 May to submit their offers. After that deadline, EPBiH will proceed with the selection process.

System sizes and procurement approach

Planned installations will vary by site. According to the tender documentation, system capacities will range from 25 kW to 240 kW.

The contractor will be selected based on the lowest offered price, with an electronic auction stage included in the procedure. The project is structured as a single consolidated package rather than being divided into separate lots.

Locations included in the rollout

Solar systems are set to be installed at multiple operational units, including facilities in Bihać, Jablanica, Mostar, Zenica, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Travnik and Kakanj.

Strategic purpose

EPBiH says the installations are intended to support its broader strategy of improving energy efficiency and expanding its own renewable generation capacity. The tender also forms part of a wider effort to modernize infrastructure and strengthen internal power production from clean energy sources as part of a gradual decarbonization of its operations.
