FBiH moves forward with environmental review for planned 100 MW Gradina wind farm near Tomislavgrad

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has begun the next stage of environmental review procedures for the planned Gradina wind farm, a renewable energy project intended to reach up to 100 MW of installed capacity near Tomislavgrad. For investors and developers, progress through formal permitting steps is often a prerequisite for moving from planning into construction.

Public hearing set for June 1

The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism said a public hearing tied to the preliminary environmental impact assessment will be held on 1 June 2026 in Tomislavgrad. The announcement signals advancement within the project’s formal permitting process.

Planned site and technical scope

The proposed wind farm would be located on the Midena mountain plateau, south of the Tomislavgrad–Livno M6.1 road, at elevations of roughly 1,010 to 1,070 meters above sea level. The area has been identified as a key wind resource zone in the region.

According to the project documentation, development would include 17 wind turbines and supporting infrastructure such as access roads, operational platforms, a 35 kV internal medium-voltage network, telecommunications systems, a 220/33 kV transformer station, and a high-voltage transmission connection line.

Developer and concession rights

VE Gradina from Tomislavgrad is developing the investment. The company holds concession rights for wind resource utilization within the designated area and acts as the official project developer responsible for implementation.

Earlier preparation steps

Preparatory environmental assessment work started earlier: preliminary documentation was made available for public review in October 2025. That step marked the beginning of a structured environmental approval process that is now moving into its next phase.
