Bulgargaz eyes June 2026 wholesale gas price of about €35.62/MWh pending KEVR approval

Bulgaria’s state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz has submitted a proposal for the next wholesale natural gas price, targeting a June 2026 level of about €35.62/MWh. The figure would represent a modest easing versus the approved May price of approximately €35.98/MWh, implying a decline of around 1%.

That adjustment comes after volatility in earlier pricing: in May, gas prices rose by 4.99% compared with April levels. For market participants, the direction of travel matters because it signals how quickly wholesale costs are being passed through following recent increases.

KEVR decision expected at the start of June

The proposed June price is not yet final. Under Bulgaria’s regulatory process, the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) will approve the official gas price on the first day of the month, based on an updated Bulgargaz submission designed to reflect current market conditions.

As part of that process, Bulgargaz’s updated proposal will follow a public consultation held at the end of May, giving stakeholders an opportunity to comment before KEVR sets the final rate for June.
