Montenegro household power bills dip in April as consumption eases
Montenegro’s average household electricity bill declined in April 2026 as consumption eased, offering relief to many customers amid a still-diverse distribution of costs across the country. The average monthly bill reached €31.78, falling 20% from the previous month (€39.73) and edging down 1.2% compared with April last year (€32.15).
Big differences by municipality
Household bills varied by location. The lowest average monthly consumption was recorded in Žabljak at €20.2, while Kotor posted the highest average bill at €37.3.
How many households pay less
Payment outcomes also differed across the customer base. Around 63.47% of households are expected to pay less than €30 for electricity consumed in April, while 18.13% will fall in the €30–€50 range. Another 14.44% are set to pay between €50 and €100, and 3.97% of customers will receive bills exceeding €100.
Discounts reach a large share of consumers
Separately, Montenegro’s power utility EPCG said it granted discounts to 163,271 regularly paying customers, equivalent to about 39.5% of all electricity consumers in the country.
Lower usage underpins the decline
EPCG also reported that households consumed 112.5 million kWh in April 2026—4.29% less than in April 2025 and 20.54% lower than the previous month. For investors and market watchers, the combination of reduced consumption and broad discount coverage helps explain why bills moved down even as costs remain uneven across municipalities.
