Rox Resources clears a key hurdle at Youanmi Gold Mine as dewatering ends and production nears

Rox Resources has reached a pivotal milestone at its fully owned Youanmi Gold Mine in Western Australia, marking a shift from preparation to active development. With main pit dewatering completed and underground work advancing alongside faster infrastructure build-out, the project is moving closer to the phase investors watch most closely: sustained ore extraction readiness.

Dewatering complete, unlocking underground access

The company’s latest update centers on the full dewatering of the main pit. Rox says water levels are now controlled and the pit floor is fully exposed, removing a major technical barrier to underground mining. With the pit floor cleared, Rox can move forward with direct access to the historic decline and proceed toward the next stage of development.

Key steps cited in connection with this transition include moving from surface pumping to underground dewatering systems, ramp rehabilitation and access works, installation of protective infrastructure at key portal locations, and readiness for commissioning of a power station. Rox also states that underground mining development is scheduled to begin imminently.

Why this matters for project risk and timing

Dewatering is fundamental to safe and efficient mining access. While open-pit operations primarily involve pumping water away from surface levels, underground mining requires more controlled water management within tunnels and declines. By completing this phase, Rox positions Youanmi to advance into deeper, high-grade zones that underpin the deposit’s economic strength.

For investors, Rox frames completion of dewatering as both an operational enabler and a risk reducer—confirming momentum as the project approaches active ore extraction readiness.

Processing-site construction begins after approvals

Alongside underground progress, Rox says surface infrastructure is entering full construction mode. Following regulatory approvals, construction has started on the processing plant site. Early works include land clearing and foundation preparation as major contractors prepare to mobilize.

The company also highlights an expansion of accommodation capacity to support workforce scaling. It says the upgraded camp will add hundreds of new rooms along with modern facilities designed to handle ramp-up needs.

High-grade confirmation and financing support

Rox describes Youanmi as standing out among emerging gold-deposit projects due to resource quality, financial strength, and execution progress. The mine hosts a substantial mineral resource with strong gold grades—an attribute Rox links to potential margin resilience under cost pressure.

The company also states it has substantial equity and debt financing secured and is fully funded through to first production. It adds that recent underground development has exceeded expectations, with record monthly progress reported. In parallel, early drilling results are said to have confirmed the geological model and initial ore intersections have validated strong gold grades—supporting confidence in near-term production potential and underlying economic assumptions.

Exploration upside beyond first production

Rox points to additional growth potential after initial production through exploration upside. The project sits within a large mineralized belt, which it says offers opportunities for resource expansion both at depth and along strike. Ongoing drilling programs and geophysical surveys are expected to further define additional gold deposits that could extend mine life and increase long-term value.

With dewatering complete, infrastructure advancing rapidly, and underground development about to accelerate, Rox says Youanmi is transitioning from a development story into a near-term producer. The company’s message is that execution momentum—supported by grade confirmation, scale considerations, and funding through first production—positions Youanmi for disciplined delivery as it moves toward active operations.
